AAW-Discussion Mailing List

This mailing list allows people interested in woodturning to send and receive email relating to our craft. This is especially useful for posting questions about the craft, equipment, and other questions related to woodturning. An alternative discussion method is available through the more advanced AAW Text and Photo Forum

  Description and Usage

The email group is being changed to a different service on July 31, 2004. The old email list will be transitioned out of service at that time. A new Yahoo email list "AAW_Woodturners" on Yahoo is replacing the old email list based server. Advantages:

can get the messages all by email, or by reading them in the Yahoo interface

can have one or more moderators

administration is done thru a GUI

can add or delete users, and can get rid of trolls (currently not true with old AAW list)

the whole list is automatically archived - so you can easily look up old stuff

you can read thru any of the old items, and they are indexed by date!!

you can either get the content via individual emails, or by reading thru the emails on Yahoo

the service is free to AAW

What It Is -
The discussion email list is merely a means to email all subscribers of the list. For example, one does not have to send 200 emails to reach everyone interested in woodturning. Rather one only has to send a single email to the discussion list and the discussion list will in turn send the email to all 200 subscribers of the list. So when a subscriber of the list sends an email addressed to the discussion list, all subscribers receive the email.

  How to Subscribe

Subscribe by clicking the subscription link or the subscription icon below. It will join you to the group if you have a Yahoo ID, or it will provide a registration page so that you can register for the email and text group. If you are already a member of the AAW_Woodturners group it will take you to that group.
