In preparing the call for entries for this exhibition, artist Jim Christiansen wrote, “Life is a journey. Woodturning is one path. We all start somewhere and end up somewhere else. We all begin knowing very little and in moving to where we are now, we learn new skills and concepts, we are inspired by the accomplishments of others, and we make the choice to practice and to become more capable. Reflecting on your journey, we are asking you to create new work that reflects what you have learned and who (or what) has inspired you to this point.”

The twenty artists in this show present insights into the stated theme, as well as bringing different interpretations of continuum into the mix. As an exhibition, Continuum provides a fascinating look at where woodturning is today-now into fourth millennium-and how it might evolve moving into the future.
