Bruce Irving Kamp, Naperville, IL

Bruce Irving Kamp, age 79 of Naperville, IL, passed away on Friday, May 6th, 2022 at home surrounded by family. Born August 3, 1942 in St. Paul, MN to Irving and Flora (Brommerich) Kamp, he spent the first few decades of his life on the east side of St. Paul. Bruce was a proud 1960 graduate of Johnson High School. Bruce earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education from University of Wisconsin-River Falls, and then went on to earn a Master of Mathematics degree at Michigan State University. Bruce married Linda Kaye Youngquist on August 27, 1966 and together they had three children - Stephanie (Christopher) Jacks, Jason (Janelle) Kamp, and Suzanne (Michael) Wychocki. Of all the things Bruce loved, he loved his eight grandchildren the most. Natalie and Megan Jacks, Rachel, Brandon, and Nicholas Kamp, Benjamin, Isabelle, and Madeline Wychocki were the absolute light of his life. He took every opportunity to see them and support them in their sports or crafts. He was thrilled when he saw they enjoyed what they were doing. Those that knew him or even of him, knew of his hobbies. He loved to work with wood, not only constructing tables and bookshelves, but also mastered the craft of woodturning. Bruce approached everything he did with a masterful eye. He was a member of the Windy City Woodturners Club. Bruce's other love, besides his family, was his lake home in Michigan. For over 30 years he enjoyed his time there looking out on Paw Paw Lake from the deck or from his counter stool just inside. This home brought him peace and comfort as a relaxing reward for his life's hard work. Bruce spent most of his working life in the area of computers and networking technology. Control Data, Charter Financial, NF Computers, Chrysler Systems Leasing, IBM, and finally his own company, Worknet, which he founded with three partners in 1996. In retirement, he loved to travel with Linda, ride motorcycles with friends and family, and invest in the stock market. Preceded in death by his parents and his younger sister Bonnie Weinadt. He is survived by his wife, Linda, his children, grandchildren, and brother William (Jan) Kamp, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
