David Alan Yoder, Oklahoma City, OK

David Alan Yoder, "Poppy David," (age 63) lost the battle against bladder cancer consuming his body on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Winona, his Father, Charles, Step-Mother, Norma, Step-brother, Steve and Sister-in-Law, Karen. David was born at Landstuhl Army Medical Center in Germany where his father was stationed, but grew up in Mangum, Oklahoma. After high school he attended Southwestern State University and OSU upon graduation but left to work in the oilfield services industry. Having spent more than 17 years doing seismograph work with his uncle Gary, David then spent 13 years working for Weatherford Frac and BJ Services. His career was cut short by heart problems forcing him into early retirement. This did not stop David though as he continued to work odd-jobs as a handyman and eventually went to work part-time at Lowe's where he formed fast friendships with many people. David loved woodworking and had a lathe in his "shop" where he turned out beautiful bowls, pens, wine stoppers, pen holders and much more. His hobbies also included hunting and fishing, which he spent many hours doing with his wife, son-in-laws and grandchildren. David had the opportunity to visit 49 of the 50 states, a fact of which he was very proud. During those many state visits he was able to see sites and wonders that not everyone gets the chance to see. David had a sense of humor that could not be stifled even during the worst of times when cancer was taking him from this earth. He once donned a full hazmat suit during the COVID crisis to get his home-health nurse and friend Melody to laugh. David is survived by his wife of 13 years, Julie Murray Yoder; his daughter Heather Rupp-McPherson and son-in-law Toby McPherson; his daughter Jaclyn Rupp Eddy and son-in-law Jeremy Eddy; "adopted" son, Marcus Milner and girlfriend Christoffee Pinley; 6 grandchildren: Canna Rupp, Turner McPherson, Maddux McPherson, Jensyn Eddy, Jordyn Eddy, and Haisley Milner; his brother, Carl Yoder; his cousin (like a sister), Dana Wilhite-Pendergraph; step-brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Ruby Edwards; step-sister-in-law, Susan Edwards; and a host of many, many family and friends. David's love for family and giving nature came first in his life and never did he disappoint, coming up with numerous activities for the kids and family members like pinatas and confetti eggs at Easter and the reading of The Night Before Christmas with all the grandkids at Christmas time. A celebration of life service will be had at David's home with close family and friends.
