Dennis "Denny" Dwyer, East Orleans, MA


Dennis "Denny" Dwyer, 75, died at his home in East Orleans, MA on June 20, 2020 after a short battle with prostate cancer. He grew up in Syracuse, NY and graduated from Central Tech High School. He worked as a draftsman for Smith & Caffrey Steel Co. before attending undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Oswego where he received a Bachelor of Science in 1969. He received a Master of Science from Western Connecticut State College in 1975. He taught industrial arts in Ossining, NY and Harwich, MA before becoming a self-employed builder. A gifted woodworker, lifelong teacher, vegetable/fruit gardener, and avid baker, Denny was known for his homemade cinnamon raisin bread that he gifted to friends around the holidays. Denny was a longtime member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Chatham. Over the years he was active in many difference ministries, most recently a Verger, Eucharistic Minister, and Lector. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann Dwyer, the love of his life, who shared his playful sense of humor, passion for teaching, and big-hearted nature. Denny is survived by his daughter, Kate Dwyer and her wife Jess Brasil; and his son, David Dwyer and his fiance, Jennifer Klimczak. He was the beloved and proud grandfather of Emery Dwyer-Brasil. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Sheila (Dwyer) Louis and her husband Richard Louis; his brother Tim Dwyer and his partner Cindy Landau; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Rose (Kraus) Dwyer and William Dwyer and a brother, Robert Dwyer. He will be missed immeasurably. The family will hold a celebration of his life when it is safe and appropriate.
