Gary Joe Barnes, Spring, TX

Gary Joe Barnes, age 71, of Spring, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Gary was born January 19, 1950 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Don Barnes and Colene Campbell Barnes.

Gary graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and enjoyed an engineering career that spanned 42 years in the energy sector until his retirement from Entergy. He pursued many hobbies including tennis, martial arts, playing the trumpet, painting, and cooking. His favorite hobby and where he was most gifted was in his woodworking.

Gary was a loving and dedicated family man. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Wanda Thomas Barnes, his three daughters and son-in-law Brandi and Thomas Rauch, Amanda Barnes, and Jennifer Barnes, and grandchildren Jacob and Zachary Rauch. He is also survived by his sister Donna Prough and his loving nephews Scott Knight and Jeff Knight and their families.

Gary’s family asks that you consider a donation to MD Anderson Cancer Center in lieu of flowers.

A Memorial Service for Gary will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park – The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
