Larry Shiera, Virginia Beach, VA
Larry W. Shiera, 79, of Virginia Beach, passed away on May 30, 2023, surrounded by his entire family. Larry was born on July 29, 1943, in Marion, Ohio to the late Henry
and Anne Shiera. Larry served his country in the U.S. Navy and later
Civil Services and became a Sheet Metal Specialist for Portsmouth Naval
Shipyard for thirty plus years.
He is survived by his loving wife
Connie, who is also his best friend and partner in crime for 57
beautiful years- where Dad went, Mom went too. Four Children: Donald
Shiera of Virginia Beach, Carolyn Baxter and her partner Bruce of
Virginia Beach; Darrell Shiera and his wife Joyce of Durham, North
Carolina and Cathie Archer and her partner Matt of Virginia Beach; Six
Grandchildren: April (Darrell), Aaron (Alana) Amy (Cody), Tiffany, Ryan
(Rebecca) and Kristina (partner Max). Eight Great Grandchildren and
One Great Great Grandchild- Dad adored his grandchildren and always said
if he could have started with grandchildren, he would have!
Larry
was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3204; he held the
office of the local Aerie President, and he recently received his
fifty-year membership pin. He was member of the Tidewater Turners for
thirty-three years. He was instrumental in forming the club. He
provided demonstrations at clubs throughout Virginia including the
Virginia Symposium and participated in many public demonstrations. He
and Connie welcomed many big-name demonstrators to their home after
meetings.
