Event Manager

Part Time – 20hr/week

We are seeking a dynamic and highly organized individual to join our team as Event Manager. As the primary manager for a large in-person conference with a hybrid broadcast and a few smaller events throughout the year, the Event Manager will play a pivotal role in driving event success by collaborating with national volunteer committees, staff, and conference contractors. This position requires a strategic thinker who can seamlessly manage various aspects of events, from budgeting and pricing to program coordination and on-site execution.

Why You'll Love This Role:

  • Impactful Work: Be at the heart of a major event that brings together a global community of woodturners, making a significant impact on our organization.
  • Creative Freedom: Develop and implement innovative event strategies, from budgeting and pricing to program planning and on-site execution.
  • Global Collaboration: Work closely with a national volunteer committee, staff, and contractors, fostering connections and ensuring seamless communication.
  • Hybrid Expertise: Master the art of hybrid events, coordinating both in-person and virtual components to create an inclusive experience for all attendees.
  • Travel Adventures: Enjoy travel opportunities to conference locations for site visits and logistics preparations, immersing yourself in the excitement of on-site coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Event Strategy and Planning: Craft comprehensive event strategies, align goals with organizational objectives, and manage the event timeline to perfection.
  • Communication Hub: Serve as the central point of contact, ensuring effective communication among attendees, program talent, volunteers, and contractors.
  • On-Site Coordination: Take charge during the event, managing operations and swiftly addressing any challenges that arise.
  • Hybrid Event Management: Seamlessly blend in-person and online components, delivering a top-notch experience for all participants.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Lead with confidence, fostering teamwork among internal teams, volunteers, and contractors to bring the event vision to life.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated success in event management, especially with large conferences and hybrid events.
  • Organizational Prowess: Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Communication Savvy: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Budget Mastery: Experience in budget management, driving cost-effective strategies without compromising quality.
  • Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with virtual event platforms and technology is a plus.

Perks and Benefits:

  • Flexible Schedule: Enjoy a half-time position with flexibility. Plan for more availability during the lead-up to the event and on-site week.
  • Competitive Salary: Earn $30,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Generous Benefits: Vacation and Sick policy, plus half-time equivalent to 10 paid holidays and 1 floating holiday per year.
  • Remote Work: Fully remote outside the Twin Cities, MN area, (or hybrid if you’re local; 2 days/week with local team in office), with semi-annual to quarterly travel to headquarters for staff meetings.
  • Annual Travel: Exciting travel opportunities to our annual in-person symposium held every summer (5-9 days).
  • Weekend/Evening Flexibility: Some weekend and evening hours required for virtual programming (1-5 events/year).
