AAW  is committed to protecting your right to privacy. We will collect, store and process your personal data for the purpose of servicing your membership subscription and in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By registering, you consent to our collection and use of your information as described in this policy.  

Your right to privacy and the security of your personal data are concerns that the AAW honors and takes seriously. The AAW collects personal information when you visit its website to perform voluntary activities including but not limited to the following:

  • Submit an application for membership.
  • Renew your membership.
  • Order products and/or services.
  • Become a chapter officer.
  • Populate a member profile.
  • Participate in an online community.
  • Register for the AAW Forum.
  • Register for the AAW Guidebook App for the Symposium.
  • Provide survey feedback.
  • Respond to calls for makers/artists and/or demonstrators.

 

The AAW may use personal information provided, including names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses, for the purpose of conducting AAW business only. Your personal information will never be rented, loaned, sold, traded, or provided to any third party at any time.

Firewalls

The AAW is committed to ensuring that your information is secure. To prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, the AAW has put in place suitable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information it collects online.  All personal information provided to the AAW is stored in databases located on servers that are behind firewalls.

Online Orders & Credit Cards

Online order forms are designed to protect the privacy of your credit card information, name, address, e-mail, and any other information you provide us. The AAW is committed to data security with respect to information collected on its site. The AAW offers the industry standard security measures available through your browser called SSL encryption to transmit credit card information to the AAW's bank payment processing database. Your credit card information is never stored on AAW servers. You may contact the AAW office if you are uncomfortable with online commerce.

User Passwords

The AAW reserves the right to use password control over some parts of its website. Where user passwords are applicable, the user will be solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of passwords and any other account information. Users should be careful and responsible whenever they are online. Posting personal information online that is accessible to the public may mean you will receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return.

Members

The AAW's website enables AAW Members, at their own discretion, to maintain personal, professional, and biographical information based on their own visibility and privacy preferences.

Chapters
The AAW's website enables AAW Chapters, at their own discretion, to maintain information accessible to and searchable by the public about their Chapter and its officers, along with a group directory, calendar, blogs, and photo gallery. The specific information maintained and visibility/privacy settings are the responsibility of the Chapter officers.


Makers and Demonstrators
The AAW's website enables Maker and Demonstrator Members, at their own discretion, to maintain information accessible to and searchable by the public, including name, professional information, and groups. Additional information, including phone number, email, and address, are accessible to and searchable by AAW Members. The specific information maintained and individual visibility/privacy settings are the responsibility of each participating Member.

AAW Directories

AAW online directories are confidential and are intended for member reference only.

The information contained may not, in whole or in part, be reproduced, copied, disseminated, entered into a computer database, used in connection with a mailing list, or for anything other than for AAW member reference.

Website Access Logs, Cookies, & Links

Web server access logs for this website are kept at the AAW's commercial Internet Service Provider. These logs contain the IP address of the user's computer or proxy server, the date and time of the visit, the pages accessed, and other miscellaneous access information. This information cannot be used to personally identify any visitor.

The AAW uses traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps the AAW analyze data about web page traffic and improve the website to tailor it to member needs. The AAW uses this information for statistical analysis purposes.

  • The AAW does not currently use cookie technology on our public website with two exceptions. Cookies may be used on some private parts of the site that are not available to the general public. 
  • The AAW uses cookies for registered users of the AAW Communities and the AAW Forum bulletin board when logged in. Virtually all bulletin boards use cookie technology to identify posters.

Please be aware that non-AAW websites accessed through AAW site links may collect personally identifiable information about you. The information practices of those third-party websites linked to woodturner.org are not covered by this privacy statement. You should note the privacy policy on those individual sites before giving them access to any personal information.
