2015 AAW Symposium in Pittsburgh
NEW: Additional Hotel - The Pittsburgh Marriott City Center is located in downtown, has 200 additional peak night rooms, and a $156 discounted group rate! The hotel is about eight blocks from the convention center and AAW will have a shuttle service running throughout the event. Click here for hotel information.
NEW: AAW Marketspace
The Woodturning Marketspace is a new, online advertiser hub that consolidates our business supporters and allows you to click-through directly to their websites. It makes finding information about products and services simple. What’s more, advertisers can offer special deals for AAW members. Over the coming months, you’ll see a growing number of members-only offers from our business partners.
2017 Symposium Host City
The AAW board approved Kansas City, Missouri, as the host city for our 2017 symposium. We’ll be holding the event at the Kansas City Convention Center in the central downtown district and the Kansas City Marriott will be our host hotel.
April American Woodturner
Each issue of the journal tries to balance the varied interests of our 15,000 members with practical and informative features that have broad appeal. What’s new and exciting is that select journal articles are now being supplemented with accompanying videos! For the April issue, John Lucas offers a behind-the-scenes look into his expertise in a video illustrating skew cuts. Also included is a short video by Kevin Wallace about Giles Gilson, an iconic woodturning artist who passed away in January.

Sharing the Passion
The Dakota Woodturners Club, Bismarck, ND, spent two days in late February turning more than 100 pens with 7th and 8th grade students at Mandan Middle School. "I thought it was really great to learn how to make my own pen with something I've never used before," says Kiana, 8th grade. A New Generation of Turners
Steve Loar's Advanced Woodturners students, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, browsed past issues of the American Woodturner journal for inspiration and ideas. They will attend AAW's 29th Annual International Symposium in Pittsburgh, where they will volunteer behind the scenes. AW Wins Niche Publishing Award
Our American Woodturner journal was presented with the 2015 "Nichee Award" for Best Niche Consumer Association Magazine at the Niche Media Conference on April 2nd. The awards are presented annually to small and medium-sized magazines across the country for the creative and innovative ways they serve readers.
